Paintball Guns
Paintball
guns are the second most important piece of paintball
gear for anybody who wants to be involved in paintball. The paint
gun being second only to googles, that is. (Unless of course you're
not THAT worried about your eyes..!) But seriously, you can't shoot
paint at someone without one of the super paintball guns around today.
So what kind of paint gun is right for you?
Well,
guns range from pump guns (these are the oldest and most traditional
type of paintball guns) to full automatic guns and beyond. While pump
guns will require you to take careful aim before you shoot, it does
have some advantages over an automatic or a semi-automatic paint gun.
These allow you to shoot multiple rounds in a row.
Realistic-Looking Markers
The type of paintball guns that you look at for purchase depends on
you and your paintball style. Most guns are designed as paintball-shooting
replicas of real guns. As a result, if you want a paint gun that looks
similar (or identical) to a real type of gun, you should not have
any trouble finding one. For instance, paintball pistols look very
similar to real pistols.
In fact, the only major difference is that instead of shooting bullets,
a pistol-type paint gun will shoot paintballs. And it should be noted
that replica-style guns are frowned-upon within the industry AND by
the governing bodies. Check with the national governing body in your
own country before you consider buying these paintball guns.
Autocockers
If you are looking for a paint gun that is easier to use, that isn’t
necessarily automatic, you might want to take a look at autococker
guns. While in normal pump paintball markers, you have to cock the
gun after each shot, autococker paintball guns will use gas and air-pressure
to re-cock the gun automatically. This means that right after your
shot, you’ll be ready to re-load.
Electronic Markers
Electronic paintball guns can be used if you want to have different
settings. For instance, a standard electronic paint gun will allow
you to choose between a one shot setting, or a three round burst.
The three round burst is more useful if you’re trying to hit a moving
target, since it will shoot three paintballs at once.
Be careful
here. In some national governing bodies, these types of guns are illegal
to use on sites, or in tournaments. Most rulings are: one trigger-pull
- one burst of gas - one paintball. Again, do your homework for these
markers.
Custom Guns
It’s always possible that you won’t be able to find guns that fit
what you’re looking for in a standard store. If that is the case,
then you have two options. You can always shop around and find a store
that will make you a custom paint gun, or you can build your own.
Building
your own will probably take a lot of work, and probably should only
be done by people who are experienced with paintball guns. Custom
guns might cost a little bit more than regular paintball guns, but
it’s probably worth it if you want a paintball marker that perfectly
fits your specifications.
If you
don’t think you like normal paintball markers at all, there are several
other options. Usually these types of guns are not allowed in paintball
tournaments, but they can be fun for your own games, or even just
to shoot at targets.
Mostly,
this kind of paint gun cannot actually be purchased anywhere. But
in some cases you can either find the instructions on how to build
them online for free, or for sale at a low price.
Some people who have found that automatic paintball guns don’t quite
do it for them have made heavy paintball machine guns. While these
would obviously not be acceptable for a paintball tournament, they
appear to be fun to build and play with.
Paintball
Bazookas & Grenade Launchers
Generally, if you look online, you should be able to find instructions
on how to build a paintball machine gun for a low price (if you can’t
find it for free). Other options for a strange and interesting paint
gun include the paintball bazooka and the paintball grenade launcher.
Both
of these two items are fun to play with, and can often be built easily
with different parts that you might have in your home already. No
matter what you're looking for - expensive or cheap paintball guns,
you should be able to find one that is fun for you somewhere online.
